Those Wretched Horses

Emerging from tattered book pages, friendships, romances and red wine porch chatter, Those Wretched Horses debuted in their current form in 2010. With influences ranging from Neil Young, Smashing Pumpkins, The Doors, and Arcade Fire, this tightly entwined five piece are carving themselves a space within indie-rock which is entirely their own.

The music is a kaleidoscope of sweetly haunting breathy vocals wound through intricate layers of echoing guitar and vintage keys.  A thumping symbiotic rhythm section alternates between pulsing darkly beneath the surface and sweeping the songs to intense crescendos.

Recorded during the freezing depths of winter and inspired by stories to the tune of Cormac McCarthy, childhood fairytales and the daily agonies of the human heart – their debut EP is a collection of lush melodies and narrative song lines.

The EP features guest appearances by a number of local artists including Tristen Parr (Schvendes), Timothy Nelson and Todd Pickett (Split Seconds).

Despite only being around for less than a year, have already played a bunch of great shows around Perth, including the One Movement Fringe Festival and the Annual Charity Rockfest for CP.
