Bands P-T — 01 June 2011
The Prevues

The are creating a brand of indie rock that blends modern influences such as The Strokes with the style and pop of retro bands like Television and The Kinks. The result is a diverse sound that ranges from catchy indie pop to emotional ballads with swirling guitars and keyboard arrangements.

The songs generally consist of rolling bass lines intertwined with jangly guitars and brooding keys locked together by a groove-driven drum beat. The lyrics are sometimes cryptic but always relatable. There is no doubt that songwriter and lyricist Matt Beahan feels every word that leaves his lips as he sings in nostalgic phrases about troubled romance and life in this technological age.

The formed in Perth in February 2011 drawing together four likeminded musos from the local scene. They spent a couple of months cooped up in a studio honing and perfecting their songs and in April the band recorded its first demo. Featuring – The Teenage, Traces of Your Love and Got No Soul this demo was created to get some feet in some doors and set the band on a path towards more gigs and a more in depth recording process later in the year.

Its early days for this indie rock band, but with a real depth to their songs and a blend of influences and styles shining through The Prevues are set to hit the Perth music scene and make a real impact.
