The gents who make up THE GROWL are a hard bunch to pin down. With Cameron off gallivanting around the world drumming for Pond, recording with Albrook/Avery and Clint busy with Gunns it’s been a while between live shows.
Now that the planets and scheduling gods have aligned The Growl are gearing up for their first big live show since they sold out The Bakery in November last year. Who would have thought it’s been that long? Expect a bigger, better and badder live show this time around.
It all kicks off Saturday 25 August at the Fly By Night in Fremantle. Tickets go on sale Friday 27 July from flybynight.org, oztix.com.au, heatseeker.com.au and the usual outlets.
Another reason to celebrate is the addition of a new band member. Sometimes collaborator and member of The Chemist, James Ireland, is officially part of The Growl family.
As always The Growl have handpicked a selection of their favourite local acts to help round out the night. Usurper of Modern Medicine’s two EP’s 2001’s Acid Chess and this year’s Turbo Handshake are critically celebrated slabs of hypnotic
groove and their live show is no different.
The inspired surf-psych-afro beat collective Cow Parade Cow need to be witnessed first hand. They’ve had plenty of love, from the blog-o- sphere to Triple J, and are definitely worth your time.
Leure has been named by inthemix.com.au as a producer you need to hear. This Fremantle chanteuse’s debut album Holland Sky will have been released and will most probably be all over the airwaves.
