Still Frame Mind

ALTERNATIVE ROCK

are an up-and-coming Perth rock band whose unique sound fills a distinct gap in the current music horizon for melodic alternative rock.

Formerly known as ‘Duke’, the four-piece spent 2010 re-inventing themselves as , recording, writing, rehearsing and preparing to tear up the WA rock music scene, with their debut EP launched to a capacity crowd at The Civic Hotel Backroom in December 2010. Rapidly making a name for themselves for their passionate live performances, the year of 2011 will see a brand new release, regional touring and a string of big Perth shows. A video clip and live footage releases from the EP launch are also being planned.

Still Frame Mind was born of a passion to combine the strongest elements of the timeless alternative rock monsters of the 90′s (e.g. Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains, Faith No More) with the depth, soul and sound of classic rock pioneers of the 70′s (Led Zeppelin, The Doors)…add the effects machines, synthesisers, sequencers and dance-friendly rhythms of contemporary rock and you have a fusion of musical styles that results in a classic, yet contemporary sound that appeals to a wide range of music lovers.

The band’s guitar-driven sound is characterised by rare range and dynamics of frontman The Mong’s melodic vocal hooks, lead guitarist Nicko’s intricate riffing and solo work, and pounding metronomic drumming from Tripo, underpinned by the driving groove of The Miff’s basslines. With plenty of effects, synthesiser and occasional rhythm acoustic guitar, the foursome dish out an awesome amount of sound, with lyrics spanning flippant every day life observations to the darkest sides of humanity.
