WAM Most outstanding Regional Song 2010.

In Oct 2010 made WAM Song of the Year history winning two categories after five nominations.

Never before has a regional artist faired so well in this prestigious songwriting competition.

August 2010 saw the release of ’s full length album Burning, featuring her two winning WAM songs . ‘Burning’ and ‘Rag Doll’ as well as two nominated tunes, ‘The Other Side’ and ‘A Wise Man’ (WAM SOTY 2009).

Co-producer Lez Karski (co-founder Bondi Cigars, producer Midnight Oil, Nick Cave, The Triffids, Yothu Yindi) describes ‘Burning’ as a ‘timeless classic’. The album is currently receiving regular spin on radio stations Australian wide including RTR FM, BAY FM Byron Bay, Radio National Perth and ABC South Coast, as well as streams overseas.

Headspace WA recently invited Simone Keane to be an ‘eheadspace’ ambassador. Keane’s tune ‘Rag Doll’ which won the WAM SOTY Mentally Healthy Category, is being used to promote a new online counselling service for young people, a Headspace WA initiative.

In 2007, Keane recorded her debut EP Moon Tunes at the Vancouver Arts Centre in her home town, Albany WA. She was inspired to become a recording artist and later producer after successfully auditioning for a musicians residency called Recipe for Jam. The week long annual event featured workshops by renowned independent artist Ash Grunwald.

In 2009, Keane became a Recipe for Jam facilitator and panel judge. The R4J initiative has kick started the musical careers of many emerging artists including previous WAM winners Xave Brown and Minute 36.

Popular WA author Dianne Wolfer uses Keane’s tune ‘Life’s Ocean’ to promote and workshop her latest novel, ‘Lighthouse Girl’ in schools all over the country.

Simone Keane is hugely popular as a performer on the south coast of WA, packing venues whenever she performs. It is her desire to take her music on the road in 2011.
