‘Magic Circle‘ is the Seams‘ darkest and most erratic effort to date, an erotic occult jam that leaps from melodic psych to brash noise punk freakout in the blink of an eye. B-side ‘Boomer‘ tumbles along feverishly – propelled by violin riffs and restless snare – with nods to math-rock and surf.
SEAMS are four stargazers from the suburbs of Perth. They craft skewed space-pop, acidic post-punk and lush psychedelia using an abundance of electronic and acoustic instruments. With their experimental approach to pop music and oddball live show, Seams have supported such national touring acts as Eagle And The Worm and Ouch My Face (VIC), as well as international bands like Best Coast (USA) and have shared festival bills with Ariel Pink’s Haunted Graffiti, Holy Fuck, The Go Team and more.
Difficult to classify and harder to ignore, the Seams sound continues to grow and encompass a startling range of influences – from Pink Floyd to Os Mutantes, Animal Collective, Delia Derbyshire and Dirty Projectors.
Seams christen the record in the midsummer warmth on December 29, when the confines of Ya-Yas bar will be transformed into a cavern of light, smoke, goodtime voodoo and mind-altering sounds.
