PUNK / ROCK

Priority One is a Rock/Punk band from the southern suburbs of Perth, formed in 2003. The band comprises brothers Andy (Vox and Rhythm Guitar) and Joe Stevenson (Vox and Bass Guitar), Richard Stagg (Backup Vox and Lead Guitar) and Leigh Daniels (drums).

It all started as an idea between 5 classically music trained teenagers at one of the the most un-rock places possible: School band camp. On discovering each others secret rock talents, the 5 original members decided to get together to play some of their favorite punk covers and write some originals for the school band competition.

After the massive adrenalin rush that was this first gig, a burning passion for songwriting and live performance had begun.

The band soon parted ways with their original vocalist, and began refining their skills. Further high school gigs and parties followed while the band was still underage, and the band has been gigging constantly in the Perth pub scene in the past 2 years.

Priority One has played in the National Campus Bands Competition 2004-2007, making it to the university final in 2006 and to the state semifinal in 2007.

Parting amicably with their original drummer in 2007, Priority One has solidified their lineup with versatile and stylish drummer Leigh Daniels.

Priority One has home recorded a number of demo songs, with the quality of both recording and songwriting increasing over time, and has also had some studio time at the School of Audio Engineering (SAE) in the Perth CBD.

Taking aspects of their sound from the many bands they are influenced by, Priority One can be described as a mix of Rock riffs, old Punk attitude and new punk sound with some pop sensibilities and a touch of metal aggression and heaviness.

A round table songwriting process means that each song has a variety of contributors and amounts to variation in the style and sound of each of the songs, whilst still remaining unmistakably Priority One.

The boys have big hopes for the future, with recording their first EP on the drawing board this year.
