Opia are…
Mike Bok on Guitar/vocals, Ryan Monger on Drum`s/back up vocals, and Mike Williams on Bass.
Opia formed in early 2006 with a musical style would be best described as Alternative heavy rock.
Opia produces a strong unique sound, writing explosive song`s with strong melodies. They have flowed from strengh to strengh, writing solid material and creating interest in crowds of many that have seen them.Opia have released a debut Ep titled “Everydaysagain” and headlined a number of shows in and around Western Australia, the guy`s have also Played support to “Mammal” and “Dead Letter Circus” in 07 and 08.
In early 2007 Opia attracted the attention of Sylvia Massy. After hearing the bands material she suggested that if they would consider the possibility of recording with her she would be more than happy to work with them. Inspired by this email and with a busy year ahead Opia decided to start 2008 with some fresh material in their set.
After hearing some impressive sounds recorded by local engineer “Adam Spark” the band approached him to record some of their latest material. With the wheels now in motion for Opia, the engineering and producing skills of Adam Spark and Mastering by “Martin Pullan” from Eden sound studio`s in Melbourne Opia are soon to release their latest single of the forthcoming album.
The track is titled “Nomadson” and is an indication of the sound Opia have evolved. Catchy melodies, big Chorus’s and there is a lot more on the way, so keep your ears and eyes open to catch OPIA soon at a venue near you.
