ROCK / ALTERNATIVE / ACOUSTIC
Adrian Hoffmann (electric guitar, lead vocals) and Jesse Brown (drums) formed Empty State in 2003 and began a quest for musical enlightenment. In their unrelenting search for new experiences, people and places, they discovered ‘musical soulmates’ in Ellen Oosterbaan (guitar, violin, vocals), Wesley Fuller (organ, electric guitar, vocals) and James Canny (bass).
Through the combined efforts of these five young musicians, the teenage rock band dream of Empty State was transformed into the gratifying reality of The Morning Night.
Though a young band whose average age is just 18, most of The Morning Night grew up in Perth’s music scene, and three members of the band have parents who were working musicians. Adrian Hoffman’s dad, Shaun Hoffmann, played drums in the late 80′s early 90′s for the local indie pop band No Flowers No Wedding Dress and today owns his own studio, where The Morning Night recorded their debut EP Decide what you want.
Recently, Adrian Hoffman guest starred with another legend of the local indie scene, The Triffids, during their reunion gig for the Perth International Arts Festival (PIAF) in February. The performance came just two months before Hoffman’s 18th birthday, making him the youngest guest vocalist (and the only to play guitar) for The Triffids, whose other guests included Toby Martin (Youth Group), Mick Harvey (Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds), Rob Snarski (Blackeyed Susans) and Steve Kilby (The Church).
Having played performances with the likes of The Triffids, Richard Lane (The Stems), New Rules for Boats and The Panda Band, The Silents, Abbe May and Felicity Groom, The Morning Night continue to get exposure and support from the music industry and audiences around Perth and Fremantle.
It is with that noted that they welcome the support of any music lover, anywhere in this vast world they hope to one day discover…
