Melbourne-based funk and blues five-piece Let The Cat Out return in 2012 armed with a brand new album titled “Swimming Upstream” featuring the lead single of the same name. The band will launch the new single on a whirlwind tour of Western Australia throughout January and February 2012.
“Definitely a band worth checking out, especially for their fat, old school organ sound that really sets them apart from their peers” – Tone Deaf
“Their vibrant and energetic live show is not one to be missed; the line-up includes some of the state’s most talented young musicians who are dedicated to bringing the funk.” – Edge Music Radio Station (TAS)
Let The Cat Out began recording their long-anticipated second full length album Swimming Upstream, following up 2010’s “Get It Like That” at the beginning September 2011, produced by nationally renowned artist Pete Cornelius.
Vocalist and rhythm guitarist Jane McArthur says of the album, “each song has its own particular feel, we’ve added in extra instrumentation where we’ve thought it would add to the message and the vibe of the song, whereas in the first album – we were very much trying to stick to the raw sound of the 5 of us, and be faithful to how we could recreate the songs live. It’s still Let The Cat Out, but it’s got a bit more added fire, and a bit more complexity”.
