Fat Jackal’s sound can best be described as raw, garage rock with insightful lyrics and a rockabilly groove, showing the band’s natural and honest writing skills and dynamic performance abilities. Drawing influence from the musical giants of the 90’s, Fat Jackal plays short, loud songs, simply and affectionately labeled as ‘Grungabilly’.
The simple, back to basics of a 3 piece Rock and Roll band, are evidently highlighted with catchy guitar riffs and strong vocals from Joel Martin, who shows a talent beyond his years.
The blues driven beats are brought to you by, funky, Harley Barnaby and the crash hot drumming style from Jackson Hawdon.
In 2009 Fat Jackal won My Big Gig
In 2010 they placed third at AmpFest, missing out just to Minute 36 and Goodnight Tiger out of over 60 entrants.
Fat Jackal have an all ages fanbase and with ” very strong blues a’la punk a’la garage rock efforts with powerful vocals from singer Joel Martin and catchy guitar riffs to boot” they are crawling their way into slightly more than several earholes.
