If anyone could claim 2012 as ‘their year’ it would be whose propulsion into cultural consciousness is matched only by the universal praise heaped on him whilst doing so. It’s one of the rare times where you can believe the hype. When The Frontier Touring Company announced his return to our shores next year following his sell out Australian and New Zealand 2012 tour, anticipations were already running ridiculously high.

The icing on the cake? We can now confirm that rising star and UK prodigy GABRIELLE APLIN will be joining Sheeran and fellow support act for what is set to become a tour de force of talent.

One might mistake the rise of Aplin to become the UK’s indie folk princess as sudden, but they would be wrong. The gifted multi-instrumentalist wrote her first song at 14 and began posting performance videos on Youtube. At 17 she was THE online buzz artist releasing her first EP and even setting up her own label. Before long she was touring the UK and at 19 signed to major label Parlophone.

Amassing a staggering 15 million channel views on Youtube and counting, Aplin’s latest single is a cover of Frankie Goes to Hollywood’s ‘The Power of Love’ that has stopped hearts across the globe.

Like her predecessors, Aplin has torn down the song and rebuilt it into an emotive ballad. In fact, with its delicate piano tinkles, cooing strings and her angelic tones, you’d be forgiven for thinking they’d lifted this one straight out of The Snowman. It’s no easy feat reworking a well-known song, but Aplin has done it with effortless charm; and by doing so, places herself as an artist to watch out for long after the turkey has been demolished. Don’t let her delicate looks fool you, Aplin has an uncanny ability to run an emotional marathon with melody and layer a track with enough intensity for someone twice her age. With debut album English Rain arriving in 2013 (out through Parlophone/EMI) Gabrielle Aplin’s inevitable world stardom lies on the horizon.

Her performance teamed with Ed Sheeran & in February will be the event that everyone is talking about all year long and with three shows sold out already the limited tickets left won’t last long!
