Dave Graney plays Mojos with Tomas Ford & guests

While in town to play at the Perth Writers’ Festival, maverick Australian songwriter will be stopping by Mojo’s for a solo show. Graney is one of Australia’s great cult songwriters. Having created seminal new wave albums with The Moodists, he went on to be involved with the lounge stylings of & The Coral Snakes and more recently his touring band The Lurid Yellow Mist. For this show, it will be just him and his guitar, taking you on an intimate run through the highlights of his sizable back catelogue.

Warming you up for him will be cabaret showman TOMÁS FORD in an equally rare acoustic outing. With a fresh new album just out, his acoustic set will give you an insight into the songwriting behind his generally wild shows.

Soul sister , who you’ll know from her band & The Soul Atomics, will croon her way through an organ-led set. Taking in a few classics and her own soulful originals, enjoy a rare opportunity to hear one of the city’s best voices in a quieter context.

If you haven’t seen yet, you’re missing out. Brown deconstructs guitars and rebuilds them with springs where the strings used to be; for his live show, he plugs them into a loop pedal and uses them to build up massive blues rhythms. Think Tom Waits via Jamie Lidell and you’re somewhere in the area of the fun you can expect when he hits the stage.
