The Chevelles

GARAGE / POP / SURF ROCK

The are a great big garage power pop band from Perth with loads of guitar action and soaring harmonies.  20 years ago this December the band debuted, featuring members of The Stems, the Kryptonics and The Freuds. From day one the critics have raved and the kids of the confection generation have danced and screamed… from their hometown of Perth right across to Europe, USA and South America building a big underground reputation as ”Australian Cult Garage Power Pop Legends”.

From their 1992 debut Album “Kids Ain’t Hip” through subsequent releases “Gigantic” (1995) “Rollerball Candy”(1999) then “Girl God” (2003), the band has showcased a wave of blistering guitars, soaring harmonies and head shakin tunes. They have released over 20 recordings including 5 full length albums and 3 “Best of” compilations.

The have played over 1000 live shows, extensively toured Australia and the US, Brazil and Europe over a dozen times in their career…playing in small sweaty rooms, massive outdoor stadium concerts and this year broke the bar and attendence records at their showcase at famed SxSW venue JB Reillys, Austin Texas. Fans at the gig included David Fricke from Rolling Stone Magazine who remarked “I have always been a fan but you guys have just blown me away”.

2008 saw the band sign a 5 album worldwide recording and publishing contract with Little Steven’s Wicked Cool Record Company and the worldwide release of “Introducing The Chevelles - Barbarella Girl God”  backed up with a 6 week world tour through Sweden, UK, Spain and the USA.

In their 20th Anniversary Year… The Chevelles grab their boards and guitars and fire up their full blown 350 chevy again. Early 2009 will see the worldwide release of the killer 6th album, “Accelerator” through Wicked Cool Records, a new track added to the worldwide new generation release of cult Sony game “ROCKBAND” & further extensive international touring.
